GRADE 1 PYP TEACHER

Who I am as a teacher:

  • I build trustworthy relationships through empathy and compassion. Our classroom is a family, and we are safe. I strive to know my students to understand how best to encourage a thriving environment.
  • I focus on universal design for learning to welcome and engage all students on all levels with all learning styles, diverse backgrounds, and varying abilities.
  • Individual student success is a priority and is measured individually. Every student is capable of growth (socially, emotionally, physically, and academically). Setting goals with my students engages them in taking responsibility for their learning.
  • I am a collaborative team member, sharing resources, ideas, strategies, and life experiences. I welcome conversations as I am a verbal processor.
  • I’m a creative problem solver who is detail-oriented and intentional in instruction.
  • My joy is contagious in education and the pursuit of learning.
  • I use art and creativity to make connections in cross-curricular lessons.
  • I believe music is a way to calm, excite, and motivate in my classroom
  • Nature is my happy place, and I will encourage students to protect and love it.
  • “For your own success to be real, it must contribute to the success of others.” Eleanor Roosevelt
