ASI- Extra! Academic Program

The Academic Program consists of four essential components:

Curriculum & Instruction / Ready/i-Ready InformationI-READY Math and ELA Program / I-READY Mathematics and ELA

  1.  Individual Academic Practice in Math and Reading using the Personalized Pathways in iReady
  • Targets specific skills that each student needs to meet their growth goals at school
  • Great for students at all levels and targeted to increase growth for everyone!
  • Approximately 45 minutes each day for both Math and Reading
  • Families have access at home and are able to use the service until the end of the summer!

  1.  Science-based lessons focusing on hands-on learning through engaging themes
  • Focuses on STEM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) to build student skills for the future
  • Pre-made lessons aimed at engaging all levels of students in fun ways!
  • Approximately 45 minutes each day 
  • Rotating topics so students who participate in ASI-Extra! multiple times receive a variety of exciting themes!

  1.  Podcasting lessons focused on students’ personal interests
  • Focuses on the essentials of language: Reading, writing, listening, and speaking! (see the student examples below!)
  • Real-world focus integrating interviews and communication skills for future success in school
  • Students choose the content and change it every time they participate in ASI-Extra!
  • Uses training and lessons from KQED to inspire students to submit projects for real-world contests like Show What You Know

  1.  Breaks for fun!
  • Students have breaks approximately every 45 minutes
  • Ensures that students still get some FUN and exercise during their break
  • Both physical breaks and brain breaks to ensure a balanced approach
  • Fun theme days happen each Friday to keep students engaged

They chose their own topics and tried to produce their podcasts with additional music and sound effects. We’re impressed with their developing interview skills!
