| Teacher Wish List
From Carol Evans-
As we look forward to our 2007-08 school year, I want to alert parents to some of the bits and pieces teachers would like to see in their classrooms. Over the summer, families may come across articles in their own homes or in garage sales that can be transformed into treasures for the classroom or for the library. The items below are the teacher's "wish list", please see if you can provide any of these needed materials. As always, thank you for your help.
Library-
In need of beanbag chairs, cushions, or padded bits of foam that can be used for seating on the floor. We also have a constant need for book donations. When donations show up in the library, the library has first pick, the Leveled Library gets books not needed in the library, so the remainders are sorted for the classrooms.
Kindergarten-
Is asking for a storage shed that could be set up outside the classroom. They also need small Legos, and nice (short) shelves for library/book displays.
First Grade-
Needs a CD player for a listening center, lots and lots of plastic tubs and baskets for library/reading materials, an indoor gazebo or claw foot bathtub or other structure that can be used for a reading center, shelving.
Second Grade-
Wants a DVD player, snap cubes, plastic shelves with drawers (rolling cart), electric pencil sharpener, scales.
Third Grade-
Needs a new rug, 10-gallon (3 cubic foot) Tupperware containers to store theme units.
Fourth Grade-
Needs new (or gently used) rugs
Fifth Grade-
Needs large bookshelves, science materials (containers with ml measurements, thermometers etc.)
Middle School-
Needs
shelves, cabinets, rug, TV, DVD player, classroom library for the new classroom, locking cabinets for science materials.
Music-
Wants a braided oval rug for music room for kids to sit in a circle.
Art-
Is asking for an
electric fry pan (to melt wax for batik), white cotton muslin material, an old blender for making paper mache, clean white t-shirts, any left-over packages of fabric dye, craft materials
At-home volunteer solicitation: The Art teacher wants to create a Visual Literacy Library and needs someone who will search through old art magazines, cutting-out and mounting pictures on tag-board. All the supplies are provided.
Campus-wide
We have a constant need for meter sticks, globes, rolling carts, educational toys and models, plus . . . interesting items that can become part of projects. With so many new teachers coming in next year, we may also need replacements for couches, easy chairs, and futons that are used for leisure reading in the classrooms.
